I just left gmail for Migadu :)
Hopefully self hosting is still in my future but this is a huge improvement for the time being.

I switched from gmail to my own domain a few years ago. One fun thing to do is get a second domain with a catch-all setup. Then to all businesses give your address as the-business-name@your-second-domain.com. Then you can detect who leaked your contact info, block spamy marketers, etc.. Reduces worries about those things. Had a couple of cases where the person on the other end was double-checking if it was my real address, but that is all. · 8 months ago
