In: s/retrogaming

They made a new version of Doom in 2020, iirc, so I expect younger people still know about it at least a little bit, but I could be wrong.

I never played Doom, but we used to have floppies of Wolfenstein 3D that I played when I was really young (around middle school, iirc). I don't know what ever happened to it, my parents might have sold it or something.

I sunk many hours into Doom 1. It’s still installed via freedoom or zdoom because I go through nostalgia moments.

Such a landmark piece of software. Even if someone might not enjoy first-person shooters, DOOM has undeniable influence in nearly every aspect of modern video game design and even computing as a whole.

Infinite kudos to Mr. Carmack and his decision to put the engine into the GPL license so it can live on forever on every possible piece of hardware.

I might set up a Chocolate/Crispy Doom server later this week or next week, to celebrate this in multiplayer. I'm in GMT+3.

It keeps popping up in various places, at least when people make it run on unexpected devices and in silly places like this: Personally, I have a deep connection with the game as it...
