They made a new version of Doom in 2020, iirc, so I expect younger people still know about it at least a little bit, but I could be wrong.
I never played Doom, but we used to have floppies of Wolfenstein 3D that I played when I was really young (around middle school, iirc). I don't know what ever happened to it, my parents might have sold it or something.

I sunk many hours into Doom 1. Itβs still installed via freedoom or zdoom because I go through nostalgia moments.
Such a landmark piece of software. Even if someone might not enjoy first-person shooters, DOOM has undeniable influence in nearly every aspect of modern video game design and even computing as a whole.
Infinite kudos to Mr. Carmack and his decision to put the engine into the GPL license so it can live on forever on every possible piece of hardware.
