The most significative difference between gemini and the smol web is that Gemini is an intentional effort for simplicity, while a small web might be small for whatever reasons.

Deleted my website, keeping my gopher and gemini. It's fascinating to find out the ammount of work a tiny website requires compared to a much larger gemini capsule. And to little gain.

Gemfeed for gopher? — I'm considering if it wouldn't be a good idea to use, mutatis mutandis, gemfeeds on gopher; making for an easy to implement subscription with clients such as lagrange, possibly others. Obviously this would require adoption by gopherites... just an idea
