My wife and I hosted the family Thanksgiving celebration at our house yesterday. There were a few hiccups along the way, but fortunately, none of them involved ill-prepared food or inflammatory political discussions.
On Wednesday night, we discovered we had run out of our preferred poultry seasoning. With only a few hours to spare before the local grocery stores closed for the night, I was sent out to track down some more. I searched six stores before I was able to track down the seasoning we needed.
We feared that our house would not be fully clean in time for our guests. Two members of the family have some mobility issues, however, so we didn't host any activities upstairs. We ended up simply taking a lot of the clutter in the main floor and moving it to the second floor. Of course that means we now have to clean the second floor, but that can wait for another day.
My office does not automatically give off the Friday after Thanksgiving. In previous years I was never able to take it due to lack of seniority. Now, for the first time in five years, I was able to take a vacation day, yielding a four-day weekend.
Overall this year's Thanksgiving was quite enjoyable. If you celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope yours was pleasant as well.
