I have always had a problem with procastination and not being able to do much while recovering from surgery has made me quite lazy. To get myself back on track I recently had the idea of making a detailed schedule for my day. I downloaded calcurse (a terminal based calendar app) and started planning out my day hour by hour at night. It's worked pretty well for me so far. I've been going for walks and working out every day where previously I would just procastinate till the end of the day at which point I'm just too tired to do it.The schedule has kinda forced me to do things on time and made me feel like I'm going through my day with purpose. Previously I would just muddle my way through the day doing whatever I think will be fun at the time. The way I was going through my day previously gave me instant gratification, but the next day I would look back and think I just wasted my day. The schedule has given me structure and now I can look back and see what I did and feel more gratification. I'm a pretty impatient person, so instant gratification is very appealing to me. I've been working on that and trying to focus on more long term gratification. So yea the schedule has been pretty helpful to me so if you struggle with procastination or feel like you're just muddling you're way through the day I would recommend trying to make a schedule.
