So a week ago I YOLO'd into dogecoin at a peak, like a magnificent salmon launching itself against the torrential flow of a waterfall into the jaws of a waiting bear.

I have been working on extricating myself (still holding 280 doge for the opportune moment), and I am pretty proud of myself, all things considered.

I had to use this voyager app because (for dumb boring reasons) I lack the additional proof of address document some places require to verify an account. Voyager just wanted a driver's license. Setup was quick and easy and I could pull money from my bank account and trade in minutes. Cool. But I have since figured out some limitations with voyager and it won't work for me long term. For instance, it won't let me put the dogecoin I bought into my own wallet, so it's not really "mine". It only allows wallet transfer for certain currencies. So I have to sell all my dogecoin regardless because there's no way to permanently keep it independent of the app. Voyager also only has a selection of currencies. I've recently gotten pretty excited about nano and it doesn't have that one. I can now put my gambling money into a respectable currency, move that to a wallet, and go to a different (exchange? market? whatever you call it) business and hopefully avoid the stupid proof of address.

Nano is the first cryptocurrency I found where you can do something fun with it immediately and give anyone, kid to grandparent, a cool demo of a future with cryptocurrency. There's an app called wenano that allows you to collect a small amount of nano coin from real world locations. Perhaps I am a nerd but what blew my mind is they have an icon for the ISS space station and when it passes close enough overhead you can get free nano from it! Like it's a travelling disco space dirigible throwing out spare change! And if you want YOU can make your own spot anywhere in the world, load it with some nano and people in that location can collect from it. Kinda like a geocache.

The nano spots (faucets) are located mostly in larger cities. Spouse could probably collect a whole nano on one of his runs in the city, enough to pay for a cup of coffee, but that is an unusually dense concentration of spots. There's nothing near the apartment where I am, sadly. It makes me really excited for the future of cryptocurrency in a way that all the talk about bitcoin does not. Bitcoin seems like it has become a vehicle for long term investors, not practical use. It may as well be gold bullion. Something like nano is perfect for everyday use (if enough people knew about it to gain name recognition).

Anyway, I have to take my gambling monies elsewhere, somewhere that lets me invest in nano and will let me keep whatever dogecoin I choose to buy (on a dip, this time).

My dogecoin losses are minimal because I sold on peaks. I am happy with my YOLO experience and the few dollars I "lost" are more than worth the education. If I hadn't been so hyped on mania I might not have overcome the inertia of account creation and transferring fiat. I have learned a ton over the past week and I am excited about the prospect of keeping a cryptocurrency portfolio and investing in interesting projects. I see now that cryptocurrency is about way more than just the crude concept of money.

The GME squeeze has not yet happened as of writing this. I didn't look farther than today for any astro predictions so I've no idea if there's some ultimate grand indicator farther out. It looked like today would be the most significant, active day this week. The biggest argument is of course, if anyone could predict the stock market via astrology with even marginal success, then every major investor would employ an astrologer and it would be taught in college and discussed seriously on CNN, etc. If astrology were real, capitalism would be abusing it already, right? That's the biggest logic nuke you could use against the validity of astrology, and I bet any astrologer would agree. Anyway, still watching that situation.

Spouse finished his second playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077 and this time he made a strategic save point so we could see different endings, like reading all the pages of a choose your own adventure book. So far the ending to his first playthrough was the "happiest". The ultimate corpo ending was grim. Interesting game for an interesting time.

I'm getting back on the keto bandwagon after doing lazy low-carb for a few years. I've put on some weight in the past year and I'm not pleased. It's past inauguration, no more excuse for needing comfort candy or adult beverages, here we go. Finding out exactly how "lazy low-carb" I have been. It's all fun and games until you read the label on your gummy vitamins and find out they're 4g of carbs a serving. I bought some ketone testing strips in the hope of using SCIENCE to keep me on the straight and narrow. I didn't need them last time. I also got ghee and MCT oil for bulletproof coffee. I was trying to recall why I didn't do bulletproof coffee before and then remembered it's because I didn't even start drinking coffee until the past couple years. Even now I can't really say I like coffee. I do enjoy the caffeine! Anyway, it's not bad and does seem to make a difference with keeping hunger down. The hardest part of keto is learning how to do without the convenience aspect of bread as a food delivery system (which I'm already past), finding substitute recipes for favorites (which I've already done), and understanding that if you don't prep your meals and snacks to-go you will very likely fall off the wagon into a pile of convenient carbs. Makes it an advantage to just be home.

My plants are doing well - I have potted rosemary, mint, thyme and basil cuttings. Still waiting on the sage sprig to show roots. I should get some seeds started soon.

Things are looking up. :-)
