That was was easier than I thought. The raspberry pi is now named Hondo, after a favorite Clone Wars character. Hondo booted up just fine, downloaded updates, got the spare bluetooth keyboard working, etc. No problems so far - the OS desktop feels minimalist but functional. Anyone with the most basic computer skills could put one together and start using it. The only bummer is I didn't check to make sure the spare monitor a friend stashed with us had an HDMI output. So I'm stuck using the TV as a monitor (inconvenient). I was too slow for the sale on the portable monitor I like, and it's now full price and backordered past Christmas. Even with the portable monitor, the cost will be less than a cheap laptop, and with better utility. So that's a win.

Today is gloomy and rainy. I didn't go for a walk. I have not been productive. I got stuck on a doomscrolling tangent. I'm hoping switching to Hondo will keep me from flipping through my normal web haunts like a stim junkie. I hate this year because there's always some fresh bit of madness coming online, just enough to make you wonder "now what" every 15 minutes. I tell spouse in the morning, "Nobody nuked anyone while we were sleeping" because it genuinely seems like a thing that could happen.

The sample stickers I ordered showed up. I should get going on that project. I am still uncertain if this is an actual smart idea or a turd. But I tend to be hard on myself and I think I have pre-discouraged myself out of several things that had potential. Then when I miss the window of opportunity with overthinking I doubledown on my own failure. Huzzah! But this one might actually work. It's a flexible idea, I probably can't screw it up.

I think my Christmas cards will be cut paper. I could do a geometric 6 fold arabic lattice design to echo snowflake symmetry, with a colored paper insert behind the cutout. Straight lines are easier to cut than curved. If I do a 3 panel card it could fold into a little lantern and I could include an LED tealight to put in the center. I think I have heavy watercolor paper that would be stiff and opaque.

Choretime now. The apt is way cluttered and that does not help with motivation at all.
