People who have a hard time being themselves often latch onto some group, trend or buzzword and claim it's their 'identity', sometimes violently defending it. However, if you refer to them by their chosen identity, they will 'cancel' you! Try calling someone 'Gay Mike' or 'Big Thelma', and the whole tribe comes down on your head, regardless of how much they go on about their self-chosen identity !
