I just found this link that serves as a simple version of the Guardian website. I think it is a very interesting project that allows users in the Gemini community to access mainstream online media in a very simple and light way. The major difference between viewing a news report on the Gemini mirror and the official website of Guardian is that everything is simplified, which has its particular advantages and disadvantages. One major advantage is that it is very easy and efficient to get text information from a report. On the Guardian's official website, I have to set my cookies preferences, waiting for many graphic and interactive elements to load, to finally read a report. However, through the Gemini browser, the text loads in no more than 1 second, which is extremely efficient for readers who focus on texts instead of images. Also, readers from the Gemini end do not have to see any advertisements, which corresponds to Gemini’s mission to create a special Internet niche that is different from contemporary commercial websites dominated by private service providers and advertisers. However, text-only-based websites in Gemini also limit expressions in news reports as images sometimes can convey deeper meanings and implications behind reports. Also, I noticed that the Guardian is a subscription-based news website, if it is free to read many articles through the Gemini community, there may be a concern regarding the copyright.
