A gemBB?

While I think something like that would be cool to see (and at least as a starting point it would be nice to have an archive in the gemini-space, I'd love that), I'm not terribly convinced it may be a good idea. Emails were here for a long time, and lots of tooling already exists. I doubt we, as a community, we'll be able to build in a decent amount of time an environment where everyone can host a personal "gemBB" server, send messages to a list, receive (which includes filtering amongst various other things) and forward messages. (part of why "email is hard" is to try to guarantee a certain level of quality in a decentralised environment where everyone can set up its own smtp server) Just my thoughts of course :) Cheers,

It would be nice to have a gemini based archive for this mailing list. I'm not sure about replacing it entirely with a gemapp would be a good plan though. All of the infrastructure is already here for the mailing list, and we aren't generally dealing with web bloat (at least in this list,) so we'd be duplicating a lot of effort just to say "but it's in gemini now". Just my 2 cents

Actually, I think I've already seen an archive in the geminispace, but I've long lost the link. > I'm not sure about replacing it entirely with a gemapp would be a good > plan though. There are atleast 2 mirrors of the mailing list available in gemini itself: gemini://rawtext.club/~sloum/geminilist/ gemini://soviet.circumlunar.space/oak/mailinglist/ The latter seems outdated. regards RenΓ©

I'll bookmark it this time :D

As usual with any proposal to replace X by Y: Which problem are you trying to solve? I like the mailing list and I will continue to use it. People who prefer a forum based on Gemini are welcome to deploy one. It will not "replace" the mailing list. PS : <gemini://station.martinrue.com/> exists.
