Engineering and pharma roles among the most in demand in Limerick

Nick Rabbitts, 27 Dec

ROLES IN engineering and the pharmaceutical industry are among the most

in-demand professions in Limerick.

That’s according to new information published by the IrishJobs.ie

website.

Outside Limerick, the data from the firm reveals that construction

workers are most wanted across the country.

It’s come to light through the survey which examined the searches

conducted on IrishJobs.ie by business and recruitment agencies.

Results show that the number of employers looking for site manager and

site engineer professionals has risen significantly over the past year.

Both positions now rank among the top ten most looked-for professionals

in 2023, indicating the growing impact of a skills shortage in the

construction sector.

The most frequently published job openings by employers in 2023 also

showed that medical and care professionals were highly in demand.

Sam Dooley, country director of The Stepstone Group Ireland with

responsibility for IrishJobs, said: “Despite slowing economic growth,

the jobs market in Ireland remains robust, with a record number of

people in employment according to recent figures from the Central

Statistics Office. As the tight labour market persists, competition

among firms in attracting and retaining talent remains fierce.”
