Beware of Blondie
1950
1.5
This is the one where Dagwood doing his taxes is a major plot point.
I guess the "restructuring" that went on in the last movie involved Mr. Dithers buying the company back, because he's the boss in this one. He's gone on vacation after his reacquisition of the company, however, and left Dagwood in charge. He gets no sleep because he's doing his taxes, which leads to him being conned by a woman claiming to own a company in need of the Dithers company's services. She takes Dagwood out to lunch a couple times, then back to her hotel room, when her "husband" shows up and threatens to beat her if Dagwood doesn't pay him $5000. Luckily, Dithers had left Dagwood with 3 blank checks for... uh, reasons, so he writes one of them out and gives it to her. He figures out the next day that they were con artists, and doesn't know what to tell Mr. Dithers. After an extended slow-motion dream sequence to fill the rest of the time this thin plot couldn't, he gets a call from Mr. Dithers who lets him know that the checks are for an account he closed a while ago. So, everything's fine.
Honestly, this movie is about Dagwood not getting enough sleep, but maybe if he watched his own movie it might help. I mean, there's a 10 minute sequence where it's just Dagwood doing his taxes. I can't believe I watched this. I can't believe I watched ALL of these movies. I can't believe these movies were made. I can't believe there are 28 of them.
I want those 28 hours of my life back.
