And then it happens

A reminder that not all is infinite bliss in smol-ler realms:

xxxxxxx@penguin:~/bbs$ ./upload
ssh: connect to host tilde.club port 22: Connection timed out
Connection closed.
Connection closed
xxxxxxx@penguin:~/bbs$

sftp'ing to tilde.club has been touch and go from the get go. It occasionally happens licketty split. But mostly the sftp invocation hangs for many minutes before connection and put's. I have to believe the issue is on their end, as:

Is this yet another case of "Guess who has to do it if/when they want things done right?"

But, nah, I'm regularly too close to giving it all up for hosting to ever seem attractive.

In fact, what I'm hoping to be smart enough to pull off is to rewrite scripts I use to manage/publish my posts so that steps that take time are replaced with "sleep <N>' (where '<N>' is "dithered", so to speak) calls in and around places that produce progress output to give the appearance/feeling of something actually taking place. Then I'll run a local Gemini server that is locally fed posts randomly selected from some large collection of posts I've scraped, carefully replacing post timedate stamps to give the appearance they're new. I'll eventually become too senile to remember I pulled the fake on my"self". And it will truly seem as though there's about as much traffic to/through BBS and Antenna as I remember. And I won't even need a live internet connection! And it'll all seem perfectly real because I'll truly believe it's real: which, of course, *is* what makes things - in fact, notions/thoughts of things - seemingly real....

Voila!
