Out With the New, In With the Old

Call me a luddite, but the earlier Internet always seemed more useful and simpler. The protocols were simple and stable, so the focus was more on using the Internet for whatever I wanted to get done, instead of playing catch-up with new tech.

Not to mention the intense commercialization of the Web along with technologies that seem mainly aimed at supporting this commercialization and annoying me. Even basic blogging software like WordPress has become bloatware, often distracting me from writing more than faciliating it.

What a pleasant surprise to see the gophersphere alive and well, and populated by some like-minded folks who appreciate the simplicity of Gopher.

Like most of my life, this phlog will probably be inconsistant in posting frequency and run a wide range of topics.

Incidently, besides the pygopherd itself, my phlog 'software' consists right now of 2 simple shell scripts. Email me if you'd like them.
