I'm listening to a Youtube channel called 'ambient techno mixes' I stumbled upon this channel a few months ago and have well become a little hooked, each mix is around 1:30:00+ long. The mixes are low and smooth, they can put you anywhere from a midnight drive on a lone highway - to quiet city street or flying your ship through space time on an intergalactic voyage.
I have always loved ambient, IDM any, electronic noise really, but as everything that becomes popular it becomes exploited. A few years ago electronica became very mainstream and with that came allot of manufactured rubbish. Well maybe not all rubbish there were some gems in there that's for sure.
During this time the underground movement of the electronic noise machine never went away, no it was and still is alive and well, and I would say, in even better condition today than it ever was. These days space on the web is cheap everyone can have their space somewhere. There many platforms out there for creators to host there sounds. Youtube, Bandcamp Scene.org, Kahvi Collective, Jamendo just to name a few and there are allot more.
A special mention for Kahvi collective. I discovered Kahvi Collective I think back in 2003 when watching a BBC show then called 'Click Online'. They had a segment in the show about the latest on the web and they showcased Kahvi Collective, a place to discover alternative and experimental sounds and since then I have been an avid follower.
The site had a few issues awhile back with a bad update from my understanding and was down for awhile, but it has been up and running again. You can also find Kahvi Collective over at Bandcamp and Mixcloud too.
