This is my first post to my Gemlog. I am so glad that something like Gemini exists. It seems that in this point in history, where are perched precariously on the interface between the old and some ill-defined new, a number of netizens have converged on the idea of a more elegant online publishing platform. Gemini recalls a time with less clutter and fewer intrusions, a time where our hopes for the new medium (of the web) were fresh and the future full of potential to connect the world and make it a better place.
Regardless of where the future goes, there is always room for something that makes room. Gemini is one of these things, a rare breath of fresh air in a world presently, quite literraly, gasping for breath. I welcome it, and am loving these first steps into it. This is my first attemt at blogging since my self-hosted blog petered out in 2005 or 2006. Let's see if the old appeal remains (I suspect it might, although I will tend to only blog intermittently and not necessarily in volume.)
Installation of Solderpunk's awesome Unsinkable Molly Brown server was a breeze - it took me a few iterations of tinkering to get running, but the largest problem I had with the basics was getting Ubuntu Server to boot on my hypervisor. Not sure what's up with 20.04 - I fell back to 18.04 LTS and all went as expected.
I'm presently dicking around with Make The World Better's Gemlikes [1], having various troubles getting it working - but I'm sure I'll sort it out, either alone or with some advice from the Pubnix universe. My next tasks are
