carly rae jepsen dropped the album of the year today and that's a FACT
I’m really tickled by all the Barbie/Oppenheimer double feature stuff. I think it’s so fun! I love the theme parties, theme nights at bars, people discussing which order they’ll see them in, etc. I feel like it’s been so long since we’ve had a widespread, low-stakes cultural event that everyone is getting involved in. It’s so silly and I love it so much :)
writing is going well! i'm only 5,000 words in but that feels like a ton considering the longest short story i've ever written was 8,000 words. and we r so early in still it's crazy! this may end up being longer than i intended which is good but bad.
also my parents made me some lasagna to have for lunch today i'm so effing grateful!! honestly my life is so good rn.
yesterday for my dad's birthday, he wanted to go to a restaurant i went to all the time as a kid but never go as an adult. it was perfection. it's really rare to try and recreate a moment to recapture the nostalgia and have it actually work out, but it did. the menu hasn't changed in fifteen years, and it all tasted exactly like how i remember. we sat in the same corner we always used to sit in, and i got the pizza i would always get as a kid——a cheese pizza with no sauce, add sausage.
the owners made us a nutella dessert thing, and the whole restaurant sang happy birthday to my dad, who's turning 61 and hates being sung to at restaurants. i love my dad, cancer king <3 it was a small night compared to other things you can do to celebrate a birthday, but i was just real happy :3
i finished my synopsis!!!!!!! :O i'm so hyped! i'm sure it will change a lot when i start drafting, but i'm super happy with it right now and am so exciting to start writing.
what a weekend for novel writing! i sent my sister my working synopsis so far, and she said she liked it, but she didn't like my idea for the ending :( and the worst thing is that she's right! so i agonized over it for a while, and i think i came up with some way to fix it. i won't be sharing my solution with her though, because i don't want her to puncture my balloon hehe.
i decided to prioritize work this week, and it's actually paying off. i feel on top of things and have been doing better than i expected. i really like this cal newport idea of prioritizing different things during different periods. last week was focused on social life, this week has been work, i think next week will be focused on domestic life (i desperately need to clean my apt).
i just finished *no one is talking about this* by patricia lockwood. i was fully sobbing by the end! i couldn't give it five stars because of the first half of the book, but damn. if i could have a shred of her command of the english language, i would be overjoyed.
feeling overwhelmed! all i want to do is work on my project, but i've been so busy at work, with dogsitting, and having family in town. i don't want to be a hermit, but... i kinda want to be a hermit.
testing how the tinylog works. have to go dogsitting in a bit. don't want to leave my house.
Thanks for stopping by!
