I've been using my first mechanical keyboard, a filco mx cherry brown keyboard for probably a good 10 years now. But recently I decided to try something new and bought a Varmilo keyboard with EC Iris switches which are described as "tactile", which means you get the bump without the *click*. And I have to say, it's absolutely amazing and a dream to type on 🤩

does it heat up your fingers as you type? (sorry, bad pun that the Esperantistoj here will understand) · 9 months ago

I ended up putting o-rings on my Filco, although I think it has cherry blue switches. Means they bottom out far more gently. · 9 months ago

I think MX brown has a small bump at the start, but yea the actuation force is high enough that it drowns it out and I can barely feel it. I always end up bottoming out and clanging the bottom of the keyboard anyway, which is quite loud. I haven't tried reds, there are so many options I just had to pick one and hope for the best. · 9 months ago

Isn't the MX Brown also tactile? I'm currently using a keyboard with Gateron Optical Brown. Feels good but I wish the actuation force was a little lower, so I thinking about swapping them with the Reds (The keyboard allows hotswap) · 10 months ago
