I've decided to stop waiting for something that isn't gonna happen any time soon and added stechbook with my 3D works to my capsule: gemini://aelspire.info/gallery-of-shame/experiments-and-practice/index.gmi

I've recently thought what file type should I use to publish content on Gemini if gemtext is not sufficient. First one that comes to mind is PDF but I really like ODT (from LibreOffice). I actually like to use LibreOffice to make some rich documents. I was using latex in the past but I was missing seeing the final document form without any compilation on extra steps. It is important for storing notes or recipes. Compiling documents to see the output seems cumbersome for me. I’m actually typing this post in LibreOffice too. It has character counter, spell check etc. So, what’s your thought on ODF’s formats?

I've added new post on my capsule: gemini://aelspire.info/posts/2023-09-30-distrohopping/post.gmi This time I'm summarising my latest distrohopping attempts and explained why I realized that systemd is not so bad and might actually be something good. I'm not sure yet.

My girlfriend is a teacher in elementary school, and took some of school's laptops with Windows 10 to home to reainstall fresh OS on them and clean any residual data left after last year. One laptop refused to restart to factory and I needed to reinstall OS. It failed once (stuck on preparing system screen) I installed it again and it broke itself doing update, and any "problem solving" tool just waste time to show that is was unable to fix problem. So I reinstalled it again and again it tries to update but now it is stuck installing it which is known problem: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/cant-install-the-kb5030211-update/45f4aa4c-87ac-41a9-9667-8ab8a0ecae96

I've recently migrated from Arch Linux to Debian on work laptop and Alpine Linux on my destkop. I'm liking it so far. But I've expected much more problems with Alpine Linux as desktop main driver (I've used Alpine on server on Orange Pi PC before). Everything just works? I had my dotfiles in backup so installation and system configuration was breeze. Kinda anticlimactic, I'm barely noticing that I distrohopped. I'll write post on my capsule when I play with it a little bit more to gain more insight.

Sometimes the more you learn about something the less you like that thing: gemini://aelspire.info/posts/2023-09-07-disillusioned-about-rust/post.gmi Anybody have any comment on it? Maybe I'm making a mistake here…

This is my first post, so hello ;) I'm got jelaous that all cool applications on gemini, so I'm thinking about changing my gemini server from agate to gmid and make something interesting. And I've a few questions: Is gmid good idea or you are recommedning something else? Im torn between FastCGI and good ol' CGI, FastCGI seems to have little support in Gemini. Does your server support FastCGI? Even if your server support FastCGI, do you think it is good idea? Maybe it is not wort to sacriface support for more gemini serveris for uncertain performance gains.
