Anyone into Todd Rundgren? He is often known for his early pop/songwriter albums... but man does he have some out there experimental stuff. Plus he tended to record all the instruments himself on many of his albums (pre-digital recording). Super innovative cool stuff. The album "A Wizard, a True Star" is a good start on the experimental stuff. Though I am also partial to "Hermit of Mink Hollow", which is much more traditional in some ways, but still strange and fun (with a few lower points).

Kovok - pre-production guitar tracking — My band Kovok are recording our first 4-track EP during the following weeks. So this week I have started with guitar tracking, with 2 / 4 songs now recorded. I have used free software for the whole process: JACK, Ardour, Guitarix and GNU/Linux. You can watch this video of one of our songs (guitar only), showing the process:

SonicPi compositions over Gemini? — Any SonicPi users on here? Seems to me that Gemini is the perfect place to share text based compositions... I myself am very bad at it, so I won't inflict my noob experiments on you guys, but I'm sure the broader community would love to see some of your compositions... And maybe some Geminauts will be hearing about SonicPi for the first time on here... I think it deserves its own subspace.

any swifties in gemspace? — last week I watched the eras tour movie in the theater. It was great. The theatrics she and her team put into the performance were fantastic. Is there any good music making software that's fully accessible only using a keyboard? (The typing kind, I mean.) I can't use a mouse, and I can emulate one in a pinch, sure, but I'm curious if there's anything like what I'm describing out there. Preferably with Linux support, but I'll take what I can get. I’ve never learned proper music theory, I just want to noodle around and see if I can make cool sounds :)

Midinous — A node-based, non-linear MIDI sequencer. Recently I stumbled across this very interesting piece of software. Was curious if anyone here knows about it and if you don't, I recommend checking it out. I've been having some fun, but didn't really got into the weeds of it yet. Is it too early to be nostalgic about KONPEITO? When I first got acquainted with Gemini and started working on Lagrange, these mixtapes provided a soundtrack that really put me in the right mood for the Smolnet. Anyway, KONPEITO is going down at the end of the month, so download/enjoy while you can.

it would be awesome to have a music metadata database for Gemini. A MusicBrainz proxy would do the job, but having something independent would be cooler. I wonder if there is a feasible way to keep something like that updated automatically.
