I’ve been hearing a lot about NixOs lately, but don’t know if it would benefit me. What do you like most about it?

I just recently switched about two months ago and I honestly feel like I've found my forever distro. I'm a notorious distrohopper, but NixOS really has everything I want in a distro. I feel like I have total control over my system, I can easily set it up to meet my needs, but I can easily revert back to a previous generation when I mess something up from too much tinkering (which I love to tinker, hence the distrohopping issue). I'm know I can get a similar setup out of any distro, but Nix makes it so much easier.

I'm definitely a fan, been using it for about a year with the last nine months as NixOS on seven machines (three cloud, three homelab, laptop).

Slowly getting used to Nix as a language, not a fan. And Steam game are a PITA.

Otherwise, loved my experience.

I've been using NixOS for a year and can't imagine going back to another distro. I had a lot of fun configuring it and really like improving my configs (i also use home-manager). It feels good to know that when something breaks I can just reboot into a previous generation. Also if my computer breaks I have all configs in a git repo and can easily reproduce my setup
