gnu/linux of the debian 12 variety

i already have build essential, etc installed, of course.

cd v
make
./v symlink

no compile warnings for v or my code, of course.

macos

i already have xcode and commandline tools installed, of course.

git clone https://github.com/vlang/v

make
./v symlink

code compiles and runs but with many compile warnings of depreciation. so many years since i did any compiling so while it would be nice to not have warnings i can accept these while code runs.

haiku

git clone https://github.com/vlang/v
cd v
make
./v symlink

v does not compile, of course. haiku web pages lacking advice on the pkg i need to install to fix this. lots of words about how things work and detail for cross-compiling but not enough for coding on haiku itself, doh! of course.

is to do with missing headers, methinks. and i don't know how to get these; yet.
