@skyjake If we mute someone in Bubble, can they see and respond to our posts? I hope the answer is no.

Mutes are one-way. If you mute someone, it affects what you see and what notifications you get. The target is unaffected and unaware of the mute.

This is a nice way of managing one's own interactions, but it doesn't handle malicious users or stalkers. These individuals will obtain advantage from the mute feature, since nothing impedes their unwanted conduct, and their malicious behavior will be visible to everyone except the person who muted them. This will lead to proactive defensive unmuting by the target of the suspected malicious behavior, and then to unwanted negative public interactions that a proper block would have made unnecessary. I request a block feature that is completely silent (gives no indication through status markers or metadata leaks), so that problem situations can be effectively managed. This feature will become crucial as the service grows.

I don't think that works on a forum. (As compared to 1:1 chat). You could use the block feature to troll someone: hide your posts from them but still cause confusion on the threads they are on.

@anisotropus A block feature could probably be implemented by adding a variant of muting that works both ways. To the target of the block, it would appear that you don't exist, and vice versa.
Of course, other people might still quote or otherwise reference posts and comments made by either the source or target of the block, so the blocked user can pretty easily realize what's going on. The target can very easily register a new account, or just log out, and again have full visibility to the blocked content.
However, Gemini continues to be quite a niche community of somewhat likeminded and smart individuals, so hostile or otherwise negative behavior is rare and this likely won't change any time soon. Also, on Bubble specifically, admins and moderators also have the ability and responsibility to maintain decorum, making a block feature less urgent.
I'll add this to the issue tracker, though.

@skyjake Well, I'll just make it plain. c l s _ i b _ l d is a rude and insulting person who can't seem to mind his own business. Instead of focusing on his projects, he replies to people with unnecessary *personal* insults. I say "unncessary" because nobody has insulted him. I don't want him lurking around my posts insulting me.

@Morgan Make the mute 2-way and permanent.
@skyjake It's always possible to find work-arounds, especially since anyone can open a new account in 5 seconds. But it's also possible for simple tools to solve some of the problems. It all depends on how crazy the people you are dealing with are. Sometimes they're just 50% crazy and can take a hint. Sometimes they're 100% crazy and you spend the rest of your life dealing with their BS until the day you realize /you're/ the crazy one and quit.
I've said my piece and I intend to say no more about it.
