I live in the western hemisphere, and here our summer is finally starting to wind down, although you wouldn't be able to tell by the temperatures here. There's been a scant amount of rain, the humidity is usually up, and temperatures have been likely setting records. I wouldn't know about the records, because I hardly watch the news, let alone the weather.
In general, I don't mind the summer - the ability to wear shorts, t-shirts, and sandals is quite appealing to me, and the fact that the sunlight itself tends to make your brain happier also helps. However, I often find that the summer can be draining as well. With the long hours of sunlight, I'm often subconsiously compelling myself to work on things later into the evening than I would in the other 3 seasons. For instance, in the wintertime, I find that I'm quite okay with doing what chores need to be done and then calling it quits and relaxing with either my laptop, television, or book. The summer, however, makes me feel guilty for doing the same things when I could be outside "enjoying" the nice weather instead.
So that's what I do - I push myself, feeling accomplished after the task, yet feeling a bit more tired each time. I tell myself it's good that I'm getting stuff done, but then I don't actually stop and take time for myself. It's just one task after the next until I wear myself down and it's the middle of the summer, and I'm burned out.
This is why I don't like summer. It's hot, it's humid, and I feel like I have a lot more responsibility. I know it's all self imposed, but I still seem to do it every summer.
Autumn is where it's at. The weather starts to cool, there's a brisk breeze that cuts through the air that energizes me, and I'm ready for the cooler temperatures. Autumn is great because it's not very cold outside, yet not very hot, and the sun isn't up late into the evening. It's a winding down, a release of the tension that's built up in the summer - a release of responsibility to be productive all day long.
Winter, on the other hand, I feel similarly to Summer, but in an opposite way - there's not enough sun, it's cold, and I want to get out and do things but I can't and don't have the energy to do so anyway.
