Evan McLaughlin has announced that his time at Derry City has come to
an end.
The midfielder, who made his senior debut in the 2021 season, has been
unable to feature for the most part this year due to health reasons,
but made his comeback as a late substitute in the final game of the
season against St. Patrick's Athletic.
The 21-year-old announced his departure on 'X', saying "My time at
Derry City has come to an end, I have some great memories from the
academy right through. Buzzing for the next chapter.'
McLaughlin made a goal-scoring debut for Derry back in July, 2021,
finding the net against Waterford in a 2-0 win at the Brandywell. He
was unable to break into the first team regularly in 2022 and went on a
short-term loan deal to Irish League side Coleraine before returning to
the Brandywell. In all, he made 32 appearances for Derry City over two
and a half seasons.
