Note for anyone using Oracle Cloud with Ubuntu - check your IPv6 addresses!

I tried to access my capsule last night via the web proxy at portal.mozz.us and found it wasn't loading.

It turns out that Oracle Cloud has recently introduced a bug that has broken IPv6 assignments for servers running Ubuntu. Any IPv6 assignments you've made in the management console will still be visible in the console, but won't actually apply to your server after a reboot.

Oracle bug report

Ubuntu tracker for the bug

I can't read the comments on the Oracle link, because it seems to require a different account to the Oracle account that I use to manage my server or the other Oracle account in my password manager (that I think I needed at some point in the past to download Java?) I couldn't be bothered creating a third Oracle account, so not sure if there's more useful information in there.

For the time being I've just removed the AAAA DNS records for my capsules/websites - boring old IPv4 will have to do for now. Hopefully it'll fix itself at some point in the near future, if not then I'll maybe look into one of the various workarounds posted online.

Thank you for the help

Massive thanks to Michael of mozz.us for figuring out the problem for me!

Final side note

While investigating this I tried to use the gemini web proxy proxy.vulpes.one, which I had used in the past, only to find that it now redirects to some sort of German cannabis retailer. If you've linked to that site from anywhere previously, you might want to go back and edit those links!
