Lagrange is a GUI client for browsing Geminispace. It offers modern conveniences familiar from web browsers, such as smooth scrolling, inline image viewing, multiple tabs, visual themes, Unicode fonts, bookmarks, history, and page outlines.
The aesthetic choices behind Lagrange? β Hi! I'm really fascinated with Lagrange, and how it made me fall in love with reading pure text again... A big part of the merit goes to the Gemini protocol itself of course, but in my case I attribute it mainly to the way Lagrange deals with colors. So I tried looking for info on how it's done, but I only found a technical publication about ANSI escapes and such. Do you guys have links to a more color-theory / aesthetics oriented article about this...

Tested the new automated restarting after an update on Windows, and it was quite a smooth experience. π Hopefully works on your end, too. @alexlehm

A smaller patch release that addresses the following: Fixed issues with dropdown menus, particularly when they are opened detached as separate popup windows. Fixed initial scope of a newly created identity when one didn't change the scope setting in the dialog. Fixed activating the pinned identity of a bookmark when opening it from the Bookmarks menu. Fixed clearing the pinned identity of a bookmark. TUI build...

Proposal: Lagrange saves pages in a folder that includes the domain [preformatted] Personally I would take it one step further and save it like this: [preformatted] But I realize that's not everyone's cup of tea. However, having a built-in way of remembering where saved GemText originated probably is.

It seems that when I attempt to add/create a bookmark, if a folder is selected in the bookmarks sidebar, the pulldown in the add/create bookmark dialog lets me select from a list of folders, but reverts back to the bookmark selected in the bookmarks sidebar regardless what I attempt to select in said pulldown. The only time that pulldown seems to accomplish what I want is if no bookmark folders are selected in the bookmarks sidebar. I mean, I can preselect the target bookmarks folder in the...

Lagrange wraps hard broken plaintext lines when it shouldn't. For example: [gopher link] To get this page to render properly (i.e., to render as-is), it is not sufficient to press ctrl-Y and switch to "raw text" mode. Raw text mode does not present raw text, but features line wrapping. In both modes, I must zoom out until all the lines stop wrapping. But this makes the font size smaller than I would like it to be. A better option is for raw text mode not to wrap at all. If someone needs a...

In the "2.8 Keybindings" section of the Lagrange help I see: The "Keys" tab lets you change which keys are bound to UI commands. Click on an item with the mouse and then press the new key combination that you want bound to it. Right-click on a binding to erase it or reset it to the default. but for the life of me I'm not finding anything in Lagrange help describing how to view said "Keys" tab, nor am I finding a path to such in any of the menu pulldowns.

This is a patch release that continues fixing regressions in v1.17 and also corrects some long-standing issues. Tabs opened in background are immediately added to the URL history. Mouse wheel direction switches back to vertical when a wide block has been scrolled all the way. Fixed current text selection extending during scrolling even after mouse button has been released. Fixed drag-to-select with the mouse...

Empty Nex document does not change the page I found a bug in my nex2gemini script caused by an empty document being requested and I noticed that this confuses Lagrange as well as this does not draw anything on the page and the "welcome to lagrange page stays visible" or whatever is on the current page stays and it does not change the url to the new one. This is a coner case...

Lagrange v1.17.1 released β This release fixes a number of regressions in v1.17 and addresses a bunch of other issues. Preformatted blocks have been in a bit of rough state. While I didn't add the clearly needed horizontal scrollbars (that's a bit too much work for a patch release: I'd have to do major changes in ScrollWidget), I resolved a bunch of issues with the horizontal scrolling: The streaking artifacts...

Does Lagrange have a debug log? I am trying to check an issue that happens with Kristall but not with Lagrange and I would like to compare the network access it does

New Lagrange mobile betas have been released. These builds incorporate most of the changes from v1.17: text snippets, custom search URLs, restoring recently submitted input, auto-prompting for input, importing bookmarks with folders, new toolbar long-press actions, customizable feed refresh interval, improved menus and swipe navigation, support for the Nex protocol, visual tweaks, and fixes for various glitches. βοΈ 1.17 (2) on TestFlight for iOS/iPadOS (in review at the moment, likely...

Making progress updating the mobile ports to v1.17. A lot of the work is related to supporting submenus, since they have a native implementation on iOS and a custom one on Android. Furthermore, some menus happen to be "detached" ones that are created independently and some are embedded inside their parent menus directly. The former ones are used for dynamic items and the latter for static menus, for convenience. It's a bit more complex than I'd like but oh well. SpellBinding feels much much...

This release adds a host of small features, some of which I've been planning on doing for a long time. There are also recent suggestions from users that enhance day-to-day usage of the app. Highlights: support for submenus (bookmarks, page tools, split view, and user data), text snippets, additional search URLs, visual UI tweaks, resizable input/upload/bookmark dialogs, improved upload editor, new input prompt...

[FEATURE REQUEST] Search function directly into the URL bar β Hi @skyjake can you implement that when you type anything without a known web suffix e.g.:. .com, .net, etc. and basically anything without a dot, Langrange searches on the default search engine you select instead of looking for an inexistent gemini page? I personally believe this will make the gemini experience more interactive, thanks! π

Does Lagrange Support Socks 5 Proxy? β Dear @skyjake does Lagrange support socks 5 proxy like, for instance, Firefox? I don't acutally need it since Gemini is fast also on slow connection or limited bandwidth, so it is basically just out of curiosityβ¦ but if it could be possible I would definetely use Lagrange behind my personal socks proxy.

Finally got around to compiling Lagrange from source for my OnePlus6T w/PostmarketOS (Phosh) with the mobile UI. Other than having to discover the correct pkg names for the dependancies on PMOS/Alpine it was super easy. The on device build time wasn't too bad at all either :)

Re: Theme palette tune-ups, particularly for Colorful Light. β [gemini link] Skyjake's "The Busy Phase" I use the Colorful Light theme all the time during the day and Colorful Dark during the night. It's what's making my Gemini experience in Lagrange quite fun. I love it! And I hope the new theme variations will be a new theme in case I like the old one better. π

Could Lagrange show the cert details when a cert is untrusted? Like maybe a details button that shows the CN and the SAN names before accepting the connection. I am occasionally hitting sites that have the wrong address and it would be helpful to see the supposed valid addresses when deciding if to accept the connection

Feature request: export user data via cli arg β It would be really nice if we had the ability to use something like `lagrange --export-user-data` instead of having to export it from the app. The reason I would like such a feature is so that I could have a scheduled task export the data to my sync directory periodically. This would make it easier to keep Lagrange in sync on my devices.
