We took a big decision earlier this year to move away from Paris.
We wanted to be closer to the ocean, nature in general and a bit less
stressful life. Move away from the noise, the pollution... Bordeaux
should be our destination. It's a smaller city and we have a few
Parisians friends already living there.

We were supposed to leave in two weeks but then COVID-19 happened in
Europe and we're stuck here for some time as the moving company is not
working and we're forbidden to use transportations unless really
necessary. Too bad I would have prefered being confined in my future
flat which will be twice as big and discover my future neighborhood a
bit. Our new landlord won't make us pay the rent until we are in the
walls so that's really cool.
This will be quite a change for us, Bordeaux is smaller than our
current district in Paris but it's one hour from the ocean and a few
from Spain or the mountains. This should be great.
Another major change is that I will be working remotely full-time
which I was only doing from time to time so far, this confinement
period is quite a good preparation at least.
Being confined had a weird side-effect on me, I went on Facebook again
to get news from some friends. I hate it but in these times it's quite
nice to be able to get news from people I care about. I make phone
calls again too, a lot, and virtual drinks. Confinement made me a lot
more social in a way. Strange times.
In other news cmccabe created an new email-based social platform
called friSBEe.
This is really a great place, it has frogs which are some kind of
journals, boards and some games and stuff. It's really easy to post
things and to read what other posted, it's just emails!
Great work, I'm loving it! You should definitely join the fun!
Computer-wise I'm re-learning C. This is a language I learned at
school but never used after that. I don't really know why I want to do
stuff in C but here I am. My learning project is making a battery
monitor widget for X11, like a graphical `acpi` or `apm`.

The code is probably really bad C, you'll tell me. The only way for me
to learn is by doing something "useful", I find it difficult learn
something with katas or exercices.
I was looking for resources and tools that modern C programmers
do/use, if you have advices on must-reads and so on I take any
pointers ^^
At the moment I started reading K&R "The C Programming language" then
I'll read "Modern C" I think.
Stay safe friends!
