I have been wanting to download Mac programs from AO using my Apple IIgs and use them on the Mac. I have found simply downloading and using the Apple File Exchange does not work, even if I change the file type on the Mac. The solution I have found is to run the downloaded file through an Apple II program called ALPE.TO.BIN, which apparently changes the file to a MacBinary file. Then I send the file to the Mac modem to modem over the phone lines. (I assume Apple File Exchange would work as well). Then on the Mac, I run the file through a program called BinHex, and it emerges ready to unpack, filetype correct! Just did this today, it worked great. I suppose these programs are here on AO. Let me know if you can't fond them. Jim November (November1 on AO)
