@lori Yes! Sony's hardware designs have always been really nice. You're right about the prices being high and also I never liked their insistence on stupid proprietary formats. That's the nice thing about retro tech though is that often the high end models I couldn't afford at the time is well within reach 25 years later :).

@kelbot yeah, I think the memory sticks had some kinda DRM support and I know that the built in music player on the clie wouldn't play my non-DRM mp3s. Luckily...they aren't the only music player on the palm. Sony has always been a company with a mix of the best and worst ideas, luckily when it comes to retro tech most of the "worst" can be avoided entirely.
I'll second that on hardware design, I loved that clickwheel on the clie.
I'm excited about the click wheel. I need to get my hands on a memory stick. I have a ms pro duo > micro sd adapters for my PSPs but they seem to be less common for the full size memory stick. Unless I could double up the adapters. Micro sd > Pro Duo adapter > MS adapter haha.
@kelbot I recently got another adapter like I have for my PSP, but the Clie didn't like it. But I think it's because I don't have any small SD cards in the house and it may be that the size was too large for it. I couldn't find any good info on what the max is.

@lori it may be an issue of fat16 vs fat32, while there is a size limitation, it is likely you have a filesystem limitation. IIRC you needed special software to use fat32 or other fs from the palm os.
@teal ah yeah I did think I should check the formatting of it before I gave up on it too
I'm awaiting the arrival of the last PDA on my wishlist, a Sony Clie PEG-SL10. This is the last one I'm ordering I swear (maybe). The key features that landed this on my list are: "high res" monochrome display, mini USB port for hotsyncing, runs on AAA batteries.
