I love XMPP. People keep trying to make me use Matrix instead but it’s just such a cludge. I find XMPP much easier to use and understand.

I am currently using basically all tools, XMPP, matrix, Discord, also occasionally others like nostr
i failed to use matrix so far. all the clients were fat and slow, and i don't like to use something i don't host, my friend hosts a matrix server, and he had to disable federation from almost all hosts because his hard disk space doesn't allow it, some images and data gets federated from other instances.
which of these linux clients you prefer? (i also added web software that can be used under linux, though probably it was better to create separate poll for that).
