Okay, here I am in tab 2 of a tmux window. For a second there I was tempted to subdivide it into several vertical panes so I could see more of what I'm typing at once, i.e. without having to scan all the way across the screen. But I soon realized that would completely undermine the purpose of using this script of mine that takes input up to an <enter> and appends it to a file before clearing the screen.
Um, duh!
So it's up to me how much I type before hitting <enter>, meaning there'll always be a little bit of immediate "look back" distraction. But I'm thinking if I stick to just a sentence or two, the benefit of avoiding typos will out-weigh the little bit of "look back" distraction.
Wow, it's just really cool to hit <enter> and be faced with an utterly blank writing space!
Sure, I've vague memories of roughly what I've typed before in this session. But those memories are closer to "nagging" than "distraction".
And it suddenly occurs to me that perhaps memory is more often than not distraction? Right? From what is usually referred to as "being here/now"? Right?
Oh my!
Okay. I'm going to consider this much enough, quit the session via Ctrl-D, edit the underlying file for formatting and basic typo rectification, and post!
