[3] An influx of users won't change the incentives, *on its own*. An influx of users won't make Gemini an attention economy. ยท 10 months ago

it already declined when Gemini went over 50 servers ;) ยท 10 months ago

[3] i don't think gemini has the potential to turn into the web through an influx of users. there's nothing you can make flashy and advertising isn't worth it on here (thank the fucking goddess). The main problem would be spam which would indeed be annoying. But I'm also very excited about every new page on here. So I'm pretty torn ยท 10 months ago

@skyjake: Good point. Even if there is a big influx, I think just a few would stick. Anyway I still think that would be good because would introduce Gemini to a lot of people that probably will like it. The only way to know something is spreading the word. ยท 10 months ago

Good question, that I have geniuenly no answer for... ยท 10 months ago

[2] The effect of an influx would likely be focused on centralized sites like Station.

However, much about Gemini is "unsticky" and non-addictive, so any future influxes probably aren't that large, and only the people who actually get Gemini will stick around after a few weeks. ยท 10 months ago

[2] I remember when the web got that huge influx. I was so happy that finally we could all meet in this wonderful place that was so much better and more democratic than the real world. We would all at last be able to grow as a society. And then the web as we know it happened. The biggest fail I have experienced. Gemini is not just a technology, it's a community. And bringing a huge influx to it will change or anihilate its etiquete. It's like any community, bringing new people slowly gives time to show them not only what we can do but also the behavior we tend to have, for good reasons. ยท 10 months ago

[3], I dunno what would happen because there's a whole galaxy out there ยท 10 months ago

[2] I donโ€™t want to see an influx, itโ€™s what seemingly ruined the WWW. We need a space away from the commercialised world. ยท 10 months ago

[1] I think it would be beneficial. By huge influx I assume that would still not be something at the size of any social network or something like it. ยท 10 months ago

it is inevitable. will change gemini. most likely we will have to deal with spam at some point. but more people will have access to this great place in cyberspace. i am positive. ยท 10 months ago
