Gemini designation ambiguity

https://blog.google/technology/ai/google-io-2023-keynote-sundar-pichai/

Alphabet (the former "don't be evil" company) appears to introduce the "Gemini" designation for an AI chatbot. Possibly not a big deal, since a Google search for "Gemini" leads to the said AI and to ... astrology. The Gemini protocol must be searched for specifically.

Ehhm ... what?

That announcement is months old and it's the first time I heard the name, or possibly I heard it and didn't care, I don't think there is anything to worry about :)

Much more annoying is the cryptocurrency thing ... platform? ... because that's a lot easier to confuse with "Gemini protocol", and because cryptocurrency folks have a superficially similar "try this new cool thing" pitch to ours.

There's not much we can do about it, unfortunately.

@Morgan: announced in may, going online in september (probably).

It's actually good. This way Gemini stays for people who loathe the big web, and Gemini does not get crowded by mouthbreathers.
