I... haven't properly done this in years now. Always some excuse. Always some project. Always... SOMETHING going on that leaves me feeling 'eh this is less important.' Devil of it is, that's the reason National November Writing Month Exists. To get people to stop giving themselves excuses on why they can't, and instead 'we don't care if you think it's garbage. We care that you're writing.'
Nobody likes to be seen as a fool, or stupid, or somehow 'not worthy.' Writing is a deeply personal activity and sharing the product of that is a deeply intimate thing since it gives the reader a look into the writer's mental state and worldview. 'How does this person view conflicts?' 'How does this guy think a conflict should be resolved?' 'What does this person want?' 'What does this person think is important?' And on and on...
At the same time it is also frustrating because everyone, especially your friends, will have some excuse on why they don't read. Oh they'll be positive and supportive and exciteable about the idea of you Doing The Thing.... but come time for them to give feedback? Nothing. It gets worse when you go seek out feedback and get torn to shreds by people looking ot jump any and every nitpick, reducing you the writer down to some talentless hack. Who would give YOU the time of day? Look how horrible this is. Why should anyoen feel THIS is worth spending time on? GO HOME. Leave us alone. Etc.
Well. I've let myself fall down that hole for too long and it's time to climb out.
Roughly 1800 words a day. 50 000 words in a single month. I can do this. I have DONE this before. Heck, I did it in a week one year.
There are no reasons, only excuses at this point.
