Hello All, I've been finding that the drive to write lengthy articles, rfcs and gemlogs has been keeping me from writing anything at all in my gemini capsule. Drawing inspiration from micro-blogging platforms that I use regularly I started writing gemthoughts, which are meant to be really short, simple and approachable so that I will hopefully do this more often. I've started publishing them here: gemini://lonelysilo.ca/gemthought A draft description of the format with some semantics can be found here: gemini://lonelysilo.ca/rfc/gemthought.gmi Cheers, Chris

RDF seems to be involved, but I'm not sure what one is _supposed_ to do with things in brackets to make them actual gemthoughts.

Drew and the team from the Trendy Talk podcast have developed a different format for microblogs. The microblogs for a user are on a single Gemini page in the following format. # Fr. Robert's Microblog ## Tue 18 May 2021 19:31 UTC I have joined the Fediverse my instance is at https://social.frrobert.com/channel/frrobert ## Tue 18 May 2021 19:29 UTC @Toby there is there is an additional program call khard that is a contact list that works with pim utils. It was developed by someone else but it works fine with vdirsyncer. I have been using all the programs for several years and I second your endorsement of them. ## Mon 17 May 2021 19:32 UTC =>gemini://frrobert.net/log/trendythoughts-2021-05-16-1607.gmi This week's Trendy Thoughts are out Time zones do not be to UTC but the three character code should be listed. The reason is it is called the Lace format is Drew developed a program called lace that lets you subscribe to Gemini microblog pages which are then downloaded and sorted in chronological order. With Drew's permission I have forked the project and expanded on the program. The largest change is that is runs on more distributions and also on Termux for Android. The project can be found at: https://github.com/frrobert2/lace If you want to see how the results of lace look you can go to gemini://frrobert.net/lace.gmi
