A young Derry woman has claimed a silver at a prestigious Irish
language singing competition.
Róise Ní Mhurchú of Cooleen Park, Culmore won a silver medal at the
Oireachtas competition for Amhránaíocht Ghaeilge/Irish singing.
Native Irish speakers from Gaeltacht regions participate in singing and
language competitions annually and Róise felt "honoured to bring home a
medal to Derry" on her first attempt.
The former Thornhill woman is studying Gaelscolaíocht/Irish language
education in St Mary's College of Education, Belfast.
