We're back! You've all been busy doing some pretty rad things around geminspace and that's great to see. As always, if you are enjoying smolZINE and have any desire to contribute, please check out the Community Contributions section at the bottom and get in touch. HINT: The more contributions I get the more often I will publish new issues ;-).
Annika's personal capsule is delightful. Along with the now watching, reading and gaming sections is a gemlog that covers a variety of topics.
Another nice personal capsule with Dad related thoughts, personal stories and a gemlog.
Watch out for the ghost upon entering! Once you make your way around it though you'll find a gemlog, an active tinylog and some other things you'll have to discover for yourself.
This is one of my favorite kinds of capsule to discover. Oozing personal passions and filled with goodies. You'll find a gemlog and the always great to see "Recommended Capsules" page where you just might find something off the beaten space-lane. Oh, this is also a good one for those with an interest in Toki Pona.
Another personal capsule with an excellent gemlog and other pages about MC and their interests.
"a personal wiki, digital garden, zettelkasten something. a hyperlinked public notebook. a simple means to that end. the soup filesystem from the apple newton. 'a one table database of entries' or rather, a one folder collection of (gemtext) files..." I'm a sucker for capsules with recipes and this one has a bunch!
Thank you. Thank you for going through whatever steps it took to read this. Thank you especially to everyone that has contributed to Gemini and ActivityPub!
Less than a year ago I thought that I had to play in a billionaires walled garden to have a modern life. I am not a tech genius, which apparently 90% of the Fediverse is, so this is all very new to me. I thought that the internet had gotten so complicated that no normal person could run and control how they access it. Thanks to @ajroach42@retro.social and many others in the Fediverse, I now know that is bullshit.
This brings me to Solarpunk. Cyberpunk's more optimistic & non-binary alternative vision of the future. It provides methods and mechanisms for not just surviving fascism during a climate crisis but thriving. Now my head is full of thoughts of solar-powered federated networks of independent communities communicating and providing mutual aid. These are pleasant dreams compared to the existential dread of being a worker drone in a neo-feudalistic hell-hive.
What if everyone operated their own Solarport? Run a fediverse instance on a SBC. Add a Gemini capsule. Integrate a rechargeable battery and detachable solar panels. Add a 7" touchscreen and mount it in a box. I'm putting mine in a vintage Russian oscilloscope housing. What will you build yours out of?
I still don't know what the future holds, but the cautious optimism is currently fueling and driving me. Let's build something, but keep it small. Small is flexible. Small is adaptable. Small is mobile.

To play Stinky Pinky you will need to read the two descriptions below. They each describe a word and the two words rhyme. Example: 1. Smelly, 2. Finger; Answer: Stinky Pinky. Get it? You can email your answer to the address found at the bottom of each smolZINE to confirm if you are correct. The first to answer wins...uhhh I haven't figured that out yet so my congrats will have to do for now.
1. Moving seat
2. Computer network connectivity testing program
