Re: "Considering this is the retrocomputing subspace, it seems..."

Comment in: s/retrocomputing

Just made the required changes on my x270. Bit early but I have other systems to use in the meantime. Didn't take part in the previous challenges but decided I really wanted to going forward. 512MB and a single core at 400MHz is surprisingly slow even with DWM and st. Think I may endup going full terminal for the duration. Seem to recall 8MB of RAM and a single core @ 66MHz been more performant but I guess Operating Systems were so much simpler rather than layer upon layer of security mitigation.

@drh3xx Sweet, feel free to say hello in #oldcomputerchallenge on liberachat :)

My iBook has a whopping 366MHz CPU and 160mb of RAM. It's enough to run Xorg but yeah, I might just spend a lot of time in the terminal next week :-D

Thanks @ghostzero I'll look at getting setup on liberachat befire Monday. Guess I best see what irc clients are available on OpenBSD.

Considering this is the retrocomputing subspace, it seems the right place to put a link to the Old Computer Challenge (OCC) 2023, which starts in little over a week's time. [gemini link] Old Computer Challenge [https link] Old Computer Challenge (http) This year's edition runs from 10th to 16th July and the goal is to purposefully limit computer performance (e.g. by using a retrocomputer) and see what kind of fun observations/creativity comes out of it. I'll be participating with an iBook G3...
