I want to start using IRC... Can somebody help me find some cool channels to hang around? I'm totally new to the protocol

Install Hexchat IRC client, in Menu look at Network List.. select some network (I recommend you Freenode or OFTC) and look at channel list - you'll find tones of interesting channels! ;) Find in the web some IRC user's guide - it's easy thing!
