Haiku OS and FreeBSD are currently my favorite systems on my laptop. On bare metal I run FreeBSD 13.2 and with VirtualBox Haiku OS on it. I love both. Haiku is in a very stable beta 4 stage and getting better and better. The desktop theme is coming from the old BEOS. It is fully functional with many apps and modern code. Both system are free and open source. Always good to give them a try, at least to play around in Virtualbox. FreeBSD is a little bit harder to install, including a desktop environment. There is NomadBSD, a live system for usb-stick with a very modern desktop, built on top of FreeBSD. Another favorite and I use it often.
