Sort of glad we didn't get the user influx that Mastodon did. Gemini is that middle size with great community but very minimal trolling/misconduct. I don't know if I'm ready for a more mainstream gmi, or rather the effects it would bring

I'm going with the unpopular opinion. It's a little *too* slow for me. I keep forgetting to come check; months go by, sometimes. I think gmi has some gaps that need filling -- it's a little *too* basic a format (it could use more markup, and still have an easy-to-parse, formal BNF). I worry that it'll sort of fade out; many early adopters have dropped it. · 10 months ago

Honestly I don't see what kind of event will cause Gemini to surge to mainstream attention. It's just anti everything most people are used to. Is this a good thing?

Maybe WW3 and thus everyone have to live with extreme low bandwidth? · 10 months ago

It never even crossed my mind as a possibility. People were looking for an alternative to a specific web site, whereas Gemini is an alternative to the entire web. The mindset that drives people to or away from Twitter is inherently unsuitable for something like this. · 10 months ago

I do really like that it's slow here. Not a huge amount to catch up on, and still a small town feel to the whole thing. · 10 months ago
