So I ended up winning a job lot of 20+ new blank VHS tapes for £10 in an eBay auction I forgot all about. 😅

So I have a whole cabinet full of blank tapes… now what?

@cobradile94 Interesting. Couldn't find anything about it on the big web.

BTW, I like @smokey idea at first, but then I remember that I don't own a VCR (like everyone I know) so I wouldn't even take the tape · 2 years ago

Go full ARG, make up some analog mystery/puzzle/spooky video digitally and add in your standard codes for people to solve, lather it up with some after effects filters to make it seem like its from the 80s or 90s, copy the video onto the VHS's and hide them all over your area. park benches, bus stations, maybe even geocaches. · 2 years ago

@shway They actually can! There were cards that existed for them in the 90s. They were able to store several Gigabytes, but weren’t very reliable. The cards are super hard to find nowadays and only work on PCs from that era · 2 years ago

It'd be cool to use them as data storage (and boot somethink from them) but it seems that VCRs can't store digital data (unlike cassette tapes). · 2 years ago
