#: 73859 S5/1000/1200/3000 25-Sep-86 20:06:07 Sb: hard drives Fm: JOSEPH N. MAURIELLO JR. 71455,1567 To: all For those of you who would like to set up a HD on a T1k or T1ka, read the following. ( went nuts getting the data ) You may use a standard Western Digital WX2 controller if you cut the trace between pins 1 & 2 on jumper group W7, and jumper pins 2 & 3. This changes the interupts from #5 to #2. Then call WD at (714) 863-0102 and request a Tandy #8 rom from them ( should cost around $30 ) & make sure it supports you drive type. They are programming a custom one for me for $50, which is pretty reasonable since they also give you the right to reproduce it! I needed a custom unit because the standard one does not support a 6head 640trk (30meg) hd. Also some of the newer WX2 boards do NOT have the header pins installed at W7, so be careful. Other than that it is not that difficult to bypass some of the expensive Tandy aftermarket suppliers. Also if you are handy and can make some brackets you could possibly hang a 3.5" Hd beside the floppy cage. To get the WD rom call the number above & or write to: Western Digital Applications C-2 2445 McCabe Way Irvine, CA. 92774 Attn. Mike Smith ---Joe---
