This is a growing collection of Latin quotes from classical authors mainly. You'll find words of wisdom, beautiful verses, imaginative explanations of natural phenomena, funny lines and much more, in no particular order: I will collect them as I come across them while I read. Since it's targeted mainly for people who don't understand Latin, I will provide translations of my own: keep in mind that I'm not a native English speaker (nor a Latin native, alas!), so the translations are by no means 100% correct. If you find some mistakes, or some passages that can be rendered more smoothly, you can send me your corrections here:
Seneca about killing and suicide.
Seneca about hikikomori (yes, they had them somehow).
Horatius about the death of the praiseworthy.
Nepos' definition of a tyrant.
Cicero reporting a saying from King Philip about corruption.
Florus about an appalling display of prowess by Caesar's soldiers.
