openid + (rss|atom) = decentralization on gemini space

i had this thought long before, when i was using diaspora.

it came to me that we don't really need a decentralized protocol, because we already have it. the internet is already decentralized.

and we have rss/atom to subscribe.

but how to comment?

we have openid! and i was commenting with my openid hosted by my wordpress on stackoverflow!

i wrote this post on diaspora in 2014. it's good diaspora supports rss, but alas, for real decentralization it also needs to support openid.

so for gemini, we don't need activity pub or anything new.

we just need a way to authorize ourselves by letting the capsule know that we are someone from that other capsule. and that other capsule has to confirm it.

then we can comment, or engage/react/feedback somehow.

p. s. it may seem that what it doesn't solve is posts of limited visibility. and private messages. then maybe that's the limitation, yes, gemini is about limitations. and maybe it is possible to do gpg/omemo over rss and openid. (:
