It's been quite a while since the last time I posted here, hasn't it?
I'm still working at that new job I mentioned, which doesn't leave me quite so tired as it used to. It's just retail, but I can't help but feel a little bit proud of the fact that I'm comparatively good at what I do; I work in every department of the store depending on the needs of management and often help them out with odd jobs in addition. Again, it's just retail, but this feels better, I suppose, than being bad at it.
I'm not writing a great deal, although I am reading a healthy amount. I recently finished Ovid's 'Metamorphoses', which I adored, and hope to re-read sooner rather than later; HaldΓ³r Laxness' 'Salka Valka', which was absolutely excellent, a very moving and magnanimous portrait of a young girl growing up in a poor Icelandic fishing village; and John Berger's 'Ways of Seeing', a classic I've seen referenced many times but never got around to interacting with directly. I'm currently reading the collected short stories of Juan Carlos Onetti, which I purchased because the blurb on the back reads: "Onetti's world is dark, highly pessimistic, there is a vision of the human condition that is profoundly desperate, there is no way out..." This is also excellent.
I don't think I have anything else of interest concerning my own life with which to pad out this post. I'm still becoming infatuated with imaginary caricatures of inaccessible strangers...still dreaming of woodland solitude...still trying to drink a little less, so water again for me.
How have you all been?

I think I know what you mean about inaccessible strangers. but sometimes dreaming things onto them is a way to realize new mediums of being. and Berger! I love him. my favorite of his is Landscapes, if you need another recc

I'm dreaming of this, too, and I'm wondering if it's healthy at all :-(.
