Lagrange already supports opening Zips and browsing gemtext from it. So... there you go. There's your compression.

If you want different compression method, just tell gemini browsers to support it. This isn't against the spec, and it's actually very simple to use. In fact, gempubs are basically this same thing - they are zips with gemtext files inside of them. When you click on a gempub link, lagrange will literally have a button saying "Download and Open" and it'll download and open it right away for browsing. Other browsers can make this just as easy to do.
