Agreed. But if we make it ```x, where x is some character, then we don'thave to introduce a new line type: it's just a convention about alt-text.
I did a little Google search for ["alt-text" -image -images] and there isnothing except other senses of "alt text". I also note thatin HTML5, the "alt" attribute is for the img, area, and input (graphicalbutton) elements only. There is no notion of text with alt text.
