My circle consists mostly of some Serbians and a few fellow immigrants. Often, we get together in a single flat, pull out individual projects and get to work.
Sometimes everyone's remote working, so the host makes tea, while everyone else taps away on their laptops and works quietly. Sometimes on weekends we do project days, and people do art, python, or set up a website.
I've set up a communal music server at my place. Anyone can add the house's music through a web interface. Mostly we play electronic music.
I suppose we like coming together for its own sake, though on occasion, the techies will ask each other for advice. It turns out an office isn't so bad, so long as you can choose your company, and stay lit.
If anyone else feels their home has become a prison, I highly recommend getting people in your living room and mostly ignoring them. Feed them the occasional cup of tea and they'll be fine, because I guess this is what socializing in the twenties looks like.
